Collision Analysis and Reconstruction LLC started in January of 2003, allowing Steve Harbinson to apply his public service expertise to the private sector on civil cases.
Steve retired as a Traffic Detective after 25 years in law enforcement. He spent approximately the last 19 years of his career as a Motorcycle Officer/Traffic Detective for a municipality located in Snohomish County, Washington. Steve was assigned to the traffic section in 1996 as a DUI Traffic Officer. In 1997 he was assigned to a daytime motorcycle position where he remained until retirement. After he completed the Washington State Patrol Collision Reconstruction School, he was the lead investigator for most serious injury or fatal collisions from 2000 to 2015. During Steve’s career as a police officer he has investigate approximately 2,500 on-scene collisions and assisted on hundreds of others. Investigations included felony hit and run, vehicular assault, and vehicular homicide charges. His duties included detailed scene examination and documentation, the collection of physical evidence, scene photography, scene documentation with Total Station diagramming equipment, witness and suspect interviews, and collision reconstruction.
From January 2003 until the present Steve has operated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction LLC. During this time he has reconstructed approximately 750 collisions, and testified over 150+ times in various courts. He has taken cases in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Minnesota. Steve limited his business to civil collision cases only until he retired from law enforcement. His primary business is civil collision analysis, but he will review and reconstruct criminal defense cases now that he is retired from police work.
